Jesus Tells What is To Come
Text: Mark 13:1-13
Reflection and Question: As the forces converge against Him, Jesus surveys the scene and comments upon the future. There will be wars and rumors of war and still “this is but the beginning of the birth pangs.” To this day, Christians are persecuted in places across the globe and Jesus’ exhortation about what we are to do continues to inform us. We are to tell the Good News, as He did, and endure to the end, as He did. No matter how our message is received, we are to continue to proclaim it joyfully. Where is your place as Jesus’ kingdom is born?
Prayer: Jesus, our Savior and Brother, we hold fast to our faith in You as the birth pangs continue to seize the world. You tell us to joyfully proclaim Your kingdom’s coming and to endure any hardship. Strengthen us as we seek to do Your will. Amen.
This meditation is based on the Daily Lectionary Year 1 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
